When windows starts up and the wall paper loads, just before the icons apear I get the message:
'unable to locate dynamic link library. msnp32.dll. missing'
How do I get rid of it.
I have only just reformatted the HDD and loaded windowa 98 2nd edition.

did you install any network protocols or msn? if I'm not mistaken that stands for microsoft network protocol or look in your system.ini under run= did you have any errors running setup?

Go to Microsoft's website at support.microsoft.com and type this article id in the search field:

q243431

go to microsoft configurtion utility
and reinstall dll for cd

go to your system information, system file checker
and extract file and then type that file name to be extracted it will then prompt where to put it put it in I think windows system or just the windows folder it will then prompt for source put in your 98 cd and copy it from there; reboot
