My network crashed. It has been restored. When I try to open act, database on network, it says can't open, database created with newer version of ACT. BUt it wasn't. Help!!!

Use WinZIP or Win RAR to copy the data base files back to the database folder.

If that doesn't work, the file may be corrupt and you may need to get someone to have a look at the data for you.

If you don't have someone local we can do that.

In the other thread in this formum you refer to Suplemental files... which only started in ACT! 7 and later.

Are you sure your versions of ACT! are actually the same?

i don't know what you mean by use winzip etc.. It is definitely act 6, i save my layouts to the supplemental file layouts on the netowrk.

Hmmm... you must have names it that. The term Suplemental Files is an ACT! 7 and later.

Do you not have anything that can open a Zip file?

My problem is not with the zip file. That restored through march 3, the date I last backed up. I am trying to open the database on the network which would have data through march 10, the day the system crashed. When I try to open that database it said it was created by a newer version.

Ahhh... most likely that database has become corrupt. You'd need to get it repaired, if it's not to damaged for repair.

You could send it to me to have a look at or contact a local ACC who mivht be able to do it.
