Error launching browser

Have a BCM400 rls. 4. On my desktop once I've opened Element Manager I'm not able to launch CallPilot. I get an error message "error launching browser". I downloaded the same Element Manager to my Desktop and to my laptop. I am able to launch CallPilot from my laptop.I tryed a "Stare and Compare" with no luck. Anyone have any ideas ?
 
Is Internet Explorer your default browser on both machines I
have had the same issue when my laptop was set to use firefox
as the default. Set it to use IE and problem went away.

sorry for the slow response, had a family emergency. Both are running IE7 desktop has Java 5 update 12, laptop is Java 5 update 13 and I have updates turned off on both systems
 
As Rlsabin has stated.

Make your ie7 is ticked as default browser in INTERNET PROPERTIES-PROGRAMES-DEFAULT WEB BROWSER--
