Using Windows ME
I sometimes get a Kernel32.dll error and pc asked to reboot if error continues... If I do reboot, I still get the same error.
The error appears when I try to open my new webcam (creative) application.
How can I get rid of this error and make the camera application work?

PS: my webcam is working fine with Netmeeting but cannot get it working with msn...

Thanks...

When was the last time you ran your antivirus? You might want to uninstall the cam, see if the error goes away then reinstall it and see if that helps.
Keep us posted,
Cindy

Cindy,

Thank you for your advise...
I run a viruscan many times and tried to re-installed my cam, but this did not fix the issue.

I can use my cam on Netmeeting without problems, although when trying to use it with MSN (although I've downloaded verstion 6.1 of it), it detects the cam but won't use it with msn and says that it is already used by another aplication...

When I try to open my cam application (to take still pictures or make a video), I have the Kernel error when the application is trying to interact with the cam...

That's very frustrating as you may guess.

Any other good ideas?

Has this always done this or was it working fine and all of a sudden you started getting errors?

I just installed the cam recently and it has always done this.
I tried everything to get it fully working...

Kernel32 errors, it was not the first time I am getting them but normally after a reboot it's fine...

Could that be a memory error? I've got 256K RAM, that should be fine...

Hey.... Thank you for that...

From what I've read, "kernel.32" is a block of protected memory area set aside (win95 - win98 - winME), to run 16 and 32 bit programs. Many programs can access this "block" at one time. Sometimes a program will try to direcly use this set aside memory and cause a "kernel32" error. The only real cure is to upgrade to WinXP where all programs use their own "block" of memory. I find this error usually is caused by running an old win95 program on an upgraded computer. You can try to disable programs in msconfig until you find the "problem" program and contact the maker and look for an upgrade.

Thank you very much for this...
This has been of great help :)
