- Troubles with the c$ or admin$-shares on the machine ?
- Enabled built-in XP-firewall ?

Just my thoughts.....

The server that was defined as a management point had problems. I just unchecked the MP check box for the server then rechecked it and everything started installing.

Thanks for that - once I got the MP set up properly and implemented WINS (what year is this?!) it started working correctly.

What settings did you change for the MP to make it work? Ihave the same problem

It wasn't really a setting. Just uncheck the server as a management point then recheck it and everything should work fine.
