My computer freezes when I enter windows me after correctly shutting down. However, if I turn off the computer w/o shutting down windows, it goes thru a scan disk and the mouse works. I checked the Scan Disk log and found that there was an error in the "FSInfoSector" which was fixed. This problem occurs each time I shut down the computer. How can I find what this error is. I hate to have to continuously shut down improperly in order to get in proberly.

Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and tell us what programs are running?

Press Start>Run>Type msconfig and tell us what you show under the startup tab.

If we know what is showing in these two windows we might be able to pinpoint the problem file...or if there isn't a problem file it could be hardware related...bad ram.

Hi Ski,

Some say the US Department of Justice should shut down Me.

After you try the suggestions from lgebhart and post the results, read through this page.

Common hardware problems are with NIC's, scanners, and printers.

Wake On LAN, and Video Bios Shadow being enabled in bios also comes to mind.

How did you get rid of the FSInfoSector problem? Did it return on subsequent reboots?
