Hi,

I have a problem with Excel 97 (Sr2). Every primitive operation works EXCEPT division(\). When I enter a calculation such as "=10/2" I get a dialog box telling me the function I have typed contains an error and the formula returns a "#VALUE" code.

Any tips on how to fix this?

Thanks and regards,

DT.

Well, which one are you using? You've got both / and \ in your post?

Glenn.

We're using the '/' operator.

I must admit I've tried to think of anything that could cause this, and I'm not havng much success.

The only thing I can think of is has the keyboard mapping been messed with, replacing the normal "/" with something that looks similar? ( but surely then Excel would just accept the entry as a string?!?!? )

Does this error occur when you do "=A1/B1" and other cell reference formulae?

What is the result of the formula
=CODE("/")

Have you been checked for viruses recently?

Still thinking about this.
Glenn.
