Error: failed to connect to FAM service???

FreeBSD 5.3 - samba-3.0.23b,1

Upgraded recently from 3.0.14. Since than my server is spitting next two lines almost every second.

Aug 31 19:44:53 smbd[30459]: failed to connect to FAM service


Didn't experience any other problem. Server works without problem.

Any ideas?

This version of Samba added support for the File Alteration Monitor (FAM) service. See

http://oss.sgi.com/projects/fam/

You likely do not have FAM installed, thus the error. I think if you add "fam change notify = No" to global in smb.conf you should be fixed up (or install FAM).
