Error due to Scalable SQL Service???

When one of our programmers trys to create a Data Source in the ODBC administrator of Pervasive SQL 7 he recieves an error that we thought had to due with an incorrect password. I think that the error is caused because everytime the Scalable SQL Service is attempted to be started the error recieved is: "The Scalable SQL v4.0 for NT (Server Edition) service terminated with service-specific error 4083. " Running on an NT server to a 2000 workstation. Any ideas, please let me know.

It's most likely a protocol issue. There's a KB solution for this - search for 'Server Specific Error 4083' at

No, I have it set to TCP/IP, it also happens if I try the same thing on the server. There is also a Dr. Watson error generated on the server if I try to start the Scalable SQL service: NTDBS.MGR application error. Any other suggestions??? Thanks.

Just make sure you have applied SP6. Pervasive.SQL 7 was originally released back in 1998, before any of the newer operating systems (like Win2000) and was not tested on more advanced hardware configurations (like SMP machines) before SP6. Beyond that, I don't really have much to suggest... Linda

Maybe this will help, here are the errors generated from the pvsw.log:

11-11-2002 11:41:54 SQL Engine Stub 00000089 em32\NTSSQL.EXE MACOLA E SSQL-19: The file SQL Engine Stub is not loaded.

These are what happens when I try to start the scalable sql service, if you can help me interpret these I would greatly appretiate it. Thanks
