I have an issue with configuring a new MOSS 2007 setup.

When I click on the "My Site" button, the personal site is being created (first time). After a couple of seconds, the web page shows:
There has been an error creating the personal site. Contact your site administrator for more information.

In the Event Log, I read the following error:

My Site creation failure for user 'DOMAIN\Administrator' for site url ' The exception was: Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.PersonalSiteCreateException: A failure was encountered while attempting to create the site. ---> System.ArgumentException: Another site already exists at Delete this site before attempting to create a new site with the same URL, choose a new URL, or create a new inclusion at the path you originally specified.

Setup:
W2K3 R2 64bit server, runnning a new, clean MOSS installation.
W2K3 R2 64bit server, running a new, clean MSSQL 2005 setup.
W2K3 R2 64bit server, running ISA 2006 (SQL and MOSS server are in same segment)

MOSS is installed with Kerberos authentication, using SPNs for the SQL and MOSS server. Specific service accounts have been created. The Application Pool account should have enough permissions on the SQL server.

The above error was recieved while logged on as Administrator. The same happens when I log on as a user (with admin rights on Portal Site)

In the Event Error, I noticed the line "Another site already exists at I have checked this, but cannot find any site at that location (site directory).

Has anyone seen this before? Does anyone have ideas on how to solve this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Martijn Schouten

I'm new to SharePoint and have only looked at My Site very briefly (I don't think we're going to use it), so I might be on the wrong lines, but have you tried browsing to directly? In one of my test web applications, some of the new sites failed to appear automatically in the site directory.

If this doesn't help, you'd beter hope someone else can offer advice because I'm still learning too. ;-)

Thanks for your reply SPV, but your option does not work. When navigating to the url mentioned (with or without capitals for that matter) I get a '404 webpage cannot be found'. This makes me believe there is no site created for the Admin account at all.

Martijn

Hmmm, stumped. I've not experienced this problem (yet?) so I have just been trying to think of possibilities. If I think of any more I'll let you know.
