I just change my old pc for new one xp. The old one was running winspm v7 just fine.

On the new one i setup everything as the old one. but when i try to connect, i goes to fine until it arrive to printer option and stop, i got the message connect, but i can not use Quick Access.

The log has an error message 9.2 is not a valid floating point value.

Do i am missing something?? Any help..please

Did you copy your DATA & SITE DATA Files?

I would suggest that you first copy your DATA and SITE DATA Files to some where, then remove WINSPM completely, and then just to go ahead and download the R4 to R5 Upgrade, and then upgrade all the way to R9.

Then you can put your DATA & SITE DATA Files back, and you should be good to go.

HI..Thanks for the response. One more question..where are these files located...son i can copy them.

Thanks in advance.

Hansel

They are here:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\AVAYA SOLUTIONS\WINSPM\

DATA & SITE DATA

If you support a lot of clients, it is always wise to back these two folders up ever so often, (using MULTIPLE COPIES WITH DATES) 'cause, when they get corrupted, you are screwed.

i copy these folder into the new PC, but i still having the same error.

When it goes trough the connection process, system option, system inventory, but when it gets to printer option, it stop there, it does not continue ..

I notice that in my old PC when it goes just trough out the printer option, right after that it enables my quick access menu.

I think that i am missing some printer setting ? i am not sure..but i really want to go over this.

Any help please.

Thank you

Sounds like you may have a corrupt file (from your download). I would re-download the files and reinstall WinSPM from scratch (first removing your existing version). One thing you could try - is under Options/Settings click on the option to connect in standard SPM mode. This mode emulates an MLX-20L Operator/Programming phone - and at least you may be able to get to some of the programming menus. If you still have errors in this mode - then I would erase your current WinSPM - and reinstall a fresh version.

HI, did last instructions, but still have the same problem.

I will give you more detail..

The old machine is running Windows 98, it is using com1 serial port with 25 pins. There is a small black connector connected to this port.

Here is working fine..it goes trought out all steps and enables my Quick Access botton menu.

The New one, is a WInXP Pro sp3, it does not have 25 pins serial port , instead it has two 9 pins serial, so i have to use a 25 to 9 pins adapter.

Make sure you have the correct 9-pin to 25-pin adapter. It needs to be a "serial" 9-to-25 pin adapter" - not a "parallel" 9-to-25 pin adapter. Also - if the computer has two serial ports (COM1 and COM2 or perhaps COM3) - make sure you have the connection in WinSPM programmed for the correct COM port.

It is the correct cable or adapter. One question. Why my Quick Acces menu is not activated?

Does it depends of something else i need to configure?

I try this:

1. first installation full version 9 and after i copied both folder...I did the same

2. second installation: I installed version 5 and then start upgrading until version 7 which is the one that is running on my old machine.. It did not work either.

That is why i am thinking that there is maybe some kind of setting that I am missing?

you need to download the V4 to V5 upgrade first - which is the full program; then install it; and then upgrade it to V6, V7, V8 and lastly V9.

I did that. But it does not work.

1. I installed ver 4 to 5, update 5 to 6, 6 to 7 , 7 to 8 and 8 to 9. copy the foldes sitedata and data.I get only the Standard SMP Interface. But i dont get my Quick Access menu enabled.

If the system has certain older modules installed - Quick Access will be unavailable - but Standard SPM mode will be available.

I would also try resetting both processor RS-232 ports under maintenance. The printer port is really the SMDR port - and maybe it's stuck - or something is wrong with it.

How do i know if the system has certain older module installed?

What are the things that activates or desactives Quick Access Menu?

By the way thanks for your help so far.

Hansel

When the system first connects - you will get a Warning pop-up if WinSPM cannot read a module. In which case just click OK and choose Standard SPM. To go to Quick Access - (if you are in Standard SPM) - just click on Quick Access. To return to Standard SPM - just click on Standard SPM. You can also specifiy under Options Settings that WinSPM start-up in Standard SPM - which is what most programmers use - except maybe for labelling functions. I only use Quick Access for labelling - because the process is sooooo slowwww

HI I have try all this, but i dont get the message error.
"you will get a Warning pop-up if WinSPM cannot read a module".

I goes all the way throught until printer options then it stop there.

Quick Access is not enable. but Standard SPM does.

Also, how do i configure summer time changing, because this weekend we are going to move backward 1 hr. So i can get the correct time on my telehone system.
