Hi,
I am trying to install some printer drivers from the Windows NT 4 workstation CD
but when I browse to the CD to get the files (ie pjlmon.dll) I get an error back stating;

You do not have permission to open this file.
See the owner of the file or an administrator to obtain permission.

I know this file is on the CD (under the I386 directory,as pjlmon.dl_) and if I browse to a machine on the network which contains the file with the .dll extension,the install proccess works correctly.I have done this install successfully on many other PCs so if anyone has any ideas as to what is causing the problem on this particular PC I would appreciate it..Oh,and the user does have Admin authority on the PC.

Thanks in advance for your help...

Is the CD a legal Copy of an installation CD.

I tried to access this file on a legal installation CD even as a common User and there was no problem. [sig]
hnd
hasso55@yahoo.com

[/sig]

I have found similar problems to be caused by corrupted user profiles. Depending on whether you are using roaming profiles or not log on as Administrator (you cannot change the profile of the person who is currently logged in)and rename the users profile folder locally AND/or on the server where the profiles are stored. It is important to rename and not delete the folders as the user may be storing data there. Upon the users next login, a new profile will be created. I believe this may very well solve your problem.
