error adding a new box exch 2000

I am trying to add a new box to exchange 2000 and it comes up with an error updating attributes
the specified domain does not exist or could not be conntacted. Everthing appears ok I can see the DC from the Exch. server. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

Did you find a workaround for this issue? I am having the same problem adding a new contact.
