Pervasive SQL 8.7
Crystal Reports 8.5

When I try and connect via Crystal Reports I get the following error:

Crystal Reports: Database Error

ODBC error:[Pervasive][ODBC Client Interface][Client LNA]Connection attempt timed out. The SQL Connection Manager may be inactive or using a different transport protocol from the client.

My ODBC connection is fine as I've been able to connect to the db via Access as well as my app (Delphi using the SDK) and the Pervasive Control Center.

My CRW 8.5 used to work fine when I had Pervasive SQL 2000.

If you're using the same ODBC DSN from Crystal and Access, then it should be working correctly.
Where's the data (local or remote)?
I know Access will cache connection info. I'm not sure about Crystal. If it does, you might need to recreate the ODBC Connection in Crystal.

The db is local and I also tried re-creating the ODBC connection from within Crystal, but no luck.

Hi, pwesson

You may wish to visit the Crystal Reports web site to find out whether the version of Crystal you are using is compatible with your version of pervasive. I think perhaps they are not.

I have Pervasive 8.6 and crystal 8.5 and they work fine together. What if you do not use ODBC and connect directly to file.ddf? Can you read the tables then?

Connecting using the FILE.DDF did the trick, thank you very much.

I'm still going to try and find out why it doesn't work using the Pervasive ODBC driver. If/when I find anything I'll post it here.

I discovered a problem when I was creating the new report using a CSV file to report from. I could do everything but save my report. When I tried to save I got an "invalid file handle error"???? ya, I know, hugh?

Anyway after doing some searching on the web for this problem someone mentioned trying to run Crystal in Windows 2000 compatibility mode. After setting the crw32.exe to windows 2000 compatibility mode, everything worked just fine.

I can now access my Pervasive DB directly via the ODBC!
