I've been struggling with using group policy in order to roll-out SUS. Now I've come across another issue. When I try to access group policy from "Active Directory Users and Computers". I get an error:

Domain controller not found for domain.com

Then prompts me for three choices to try (which I belive everyone is familiar with) to no avail. I saw another post for this very same problem but with no resolution. Again I can access "Active Directory Users and Computers" but I cannot access the group policy settings at any level.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Are you using Windows 2000 or 2003/XP for administration? If you are using XP you can download the GPO MMC snap-in.

In any case, open up AD Users and Computers. Right click on the domain and select connect to domain. Yor Domain Controllers should be in the list, select the PDC emulator and see if it will connect.

If not, you may have some domain issues. There are a couple utilites for it on the CD, or you can download them. One is DCDIAG and the other is NTDSUTIL.

With NTDSUTIL you can sieze the roles to a particular server. Its command line and I don't recall all of the option.

I tried connecting to the domain and it appeared to connect but I'm still not getting to the group policies for the domain.

I tried running the dcdiag tool and when I tried running a test I get an error that says:

dcdiag.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point DsIsMangledDnW could not be located in the dynamic link library NTDSAPI.DLL.

Suggestions?

Thanks,
Jeremy
