Hi all, I'm using Netbackup 3.2GA and am running across error code 96 on several clients.

the strange part about it is that other clients in the same backup class never have this problem - it is only 2 newer clients I've installed. Manually kicking off another backup on those 2 clients will *sometimes* work, and sometimes not. And sometimes several filesystems will work, and others will not.

any clues???

TIA!

Matt

on the media server writing to the tapes
mkdir /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/bptm

check the logfile for errors when doing tape selection

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE PROBLEM I AM THE STORAGE ADMIN HERE. RUNING SAN AND 4.5 NETBACKUP RICARDO.LOPEZ@CSFBCONNECT.COM

YOU HAVE TO CREATE A STORAGE UNIT FOR THE NEWLY INPLEMENTED SERVERS.

error 96 indicates (unable to allocate media). Run a Report, see if there are any available tapes for the class/pool that use are backing up. Sounds like your tapes are full.

i'd like to add to BFOJ reply... check if there's any tape that are being freeze. you might have a lot of them in the inventory but with them being freeze it'll be of no use.
