When I try to generate a report in FRx Report Designer I get the error message "Error 91: Object variable or with block variable not set." Microsoft says the resolution to this is to install the latest service pack for FRx 6.7, which I did. This is a fresh installation where I created a new company and then used our old spec set & reports. Anyone know any other way to fix this?

I've had this error many times for many different reasons, it is so vague. Some of the reasons are as follows:

Security - make sure the user has access to all companies being used in the report

Fiscal periods - if you are combining companies with different fiscal periods, make sure all the periods exist

Check that all the combinations you've asked for in the row, tree and columns, will produce valid results.

I believe the error occurs when a script that is sent can't be compiled...the system can't figure out what the program is asking for.

Did you name your new company the same as the old ones that is associated with the spec sets.

There's only one company that's used in the report and I'm logged into the company under SYSADMIN. I don't know much about rows and trees and columns because I wasn't involved in the creation of the reports - I'm just trying to get the old ones to work.

How exactly did you get your old reports into FRx 6.7? (Did you run through the upgrade, did you export the old spec set and import into the new, did you copy files, something else...?)

Is there only one report that does not work, or all reports? Are you able to create a completely new report?

I didn't - none of them work. If I create new reports then they generate successfully. I had tried to just copy the FrxRpts.f32 to load my old spec set. We're planning on rebuilding our reports.

I have never tried simply copying the FrxRpts.f32 file, but I would not expect that to work. There are 2 methods I have tried in the past with success:

1. When installing FRx 6.7 tell it to perform an upgrade and point it to the old files.
2. Export the spec set from the old version (it would need to be running for this) and import it into the new version. This is not as foolproof as method 1, but usually works.

yeah i've pretty much tried all that a million times so i gave up and accepted the fact that we'll have to make new reports
