Hi Guys,
I am having an issue with restoring data from arcserve to its original location.
basically i have setup a daily backup scheme to a dell ultrium tape machine and i am currently testing restoring various data to make sure my backups are going to work in the event of disaster. my plan is to begin with a small, simple restore and work my way up to a larger - more reality based major disaster restore.
I was previously running daily incrementals with a weekly full and a monthly archive for storage. but after not having much luck restoring data from the incremental tapes, i decided to simplify and run only full backups each day.
unfortunately i am still unable to backup and i get the error i used as the subject
Error 3150
Unable to connect to network drive
Module:
Tasks Engines
Reason:
The drive is not available due to invalid user name or password or to Network error.
Action:
Reconnect to the drive and resubmit the job.
I have searched google and these forums but no dice. so heres a rundown of my problem, hopefully its something simple.
I used the "restore by tree" option and selected a small unimportant file to test on. for the sake i simplicity, i select to restore it to its original location and i move the original file so i can easily see if it has been replaced.
i select the default backup version which was taken last night and should reside on the current tape in the drive.
i then submit the job and am not asked to enter a password.
the job eventually fails and throws the error 3150 message as seen above.
i dont understand why its complaining about authentication. i assume it uses the same password i have entered to run the backups, which works fine.
this has me baffled, any ideas... anyone?
