Hi,

We have just installed the new version of sophos anti-virus through the new enterprise console.

On some w2k clients, sophos is not installing. We are getting error 3060 in the event viewer. I think it is something to do with writing to the registry.

Has anybody else experienced this?

Thanks in advance.

Did you get a Sophos error, say "Error 1069?" The most common problem we've have with Windows 2000 and Sophos is making sure the Sweep user login account is set up to log on as a service and the password database getting corrupted.

Have you contacted Sophos?

The only problem I've ever had with Sophos (on a 300+ user network) was when we tried to install it on Win XP machines that already had other anti virus programs running on them. I've never run into a problem like this on Win 2000.

Hope This Helps!

This is the full error

Product: Sophos AutoUpdate -- Error 3060.Could not create the cache used for updating. Reason: Cannot create registry key Software\Sophos\AutoUpdate\UpdateStatus\{9BF40A4E-23AE-48be-9974-5A1F261DBEE8}, error 5

I have contacted sophos and they are going to get back to me.

I have just installed the latest version of Sophos and found some very surprising bugs.

The enterprise version does not work with more than one domain controller (enterprise and more than one DC big error there.

Email disclaimers do not work outbound, nice touch there.

I have spoken with Sophos regarding the new version and they say dont install it yet, the updated version will be out in three weeks with the bugs fixed, well i will wait and see about that.

Hope this helps you out.

Hey all,

I have 2 PCs (both 2003). One is DC, one is Sub DC.

Both install SAU, but say "Older sophos product intalled requires reboot" - althought they are new, clean servers. Sophos never been installed on them before.

Sophos Support trying to help - but to no sucess.

Anyone got any ideas?

Dan

Can you identify which program is sending you the message?
Is it a Windows message, Sophos message, or something else?

Sophos message, within the SAU log.

Sorry for being unspecific.

Just a guess. Sound like Sophos cannot upgrade itself and is warning that it is already out of date. Sophos looks at the date of the computer vs. the date of some files. It the date is greater that 90 days (I think), it gives this warning.

Not applicable... its updating off an EM library server (so the install is using this server too).

Success about 2 weeks ago - sophos second line sopport found that the user that it was using didnt have access to the correct reg keys. Odd.

Sorted after many months.
