I created an intaller package for a VB.NET program from the Visual Studio.NET IDE. It created a .msi file and the setup.exe. When the tech tried to install the program on a CITRIX server, after loading framework .NET, he got the following message.

"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2755."

He was trying the installation with the intaller on a different machine.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

What is the operating system on the Citrix server, and what is the operating system on the computer on which installation was successful?

Also, has the MSI been updated recently on either machine?

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

The Citrix terminal server is running Windows 2000 Server, SP2. The other machine is running Windows 2000 Professional, SP2.

The .NET Framework was downloaded and installed yesterday on both machines. The new program is being installed from a 3rd machine.

Any ideas?

have you successfully installed/tested this package on any machine? perhaps it really is a problem with the package. also how are you connecting to the 3rd machine? drive mapping or unc path? it can make a difference.

Maybe putting the Terminal server into change user /install mode would help (although I thought the MSI packager was supposed to do away with that).

This looks more like a multi-user issue than a Citrix issue.

Hope this helps CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

This is a wellknown error with Windows Installer (.msi) packages, when you try to run them manually from within a terminal session. It just won't work. You either have to run it from the console session, from a group policy, or from the CMC using IM. Best Regards

Presumably you would be installing software at the console, rather than in a session? Good point. CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk
