Trying to install a Logitech QuickCam Ultra Vision SE on my Vista Home Premium. Before the install is through, I get a message:
"Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

In the Logitech Forums, the support person blames the system to several people with the same problem.

Thanks for looking!

I can only suggest that you try to install the software to another folder, than the one that the InstallShield software tries to install it to... ie. by choosing CUSTOM as install option...

Have you tried right-clicking on the install exe if it is an .exe extension and selecting the "Run as Administrator" option if it is available, MSI files wont have that option however. This thread provides a workaround.

Is your firewall turned on? I am finding more and more that if the firewall is turned off, things don't install correctly. Strange as it may seem, turning my Windows firewall on then installing then turning it back off seems to do the trick.

Just one more thing to check.

Cheers
Rob

The answer is always "PEBKAC!

Thank you all for your contributions!!!!
I tried Logitech's advice and un-installed the software, then renamed the InstallShield folder to InstallShield1, and re-installed. This did NOT work.
I then followed Linney's advice, and bingo! It works.
Thanks to all who took time to respond!
