Since updating Windows Installer (for Win95/98/ME) to 2.0 (dated 25 April 2002) from Microsoft Office Product Updates (for Office 2000, running on Windows 98), I get an error whenever I try to repair or reinstall the Office installation. "Error 1328. Error applying patch to file C:\Config.msi\PT7295.tmp. It has probably been updated by other means, and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor." On a different PC, after the same update, I get the same msg but referring to PT3222.tmp. The only tips I have found for this error so far relate to Administrative Installation, or to Windows XP. It appears to have been a bad move to follow the advice "Microsoft strongly recommends" this update! (& of course it is non-reversible).
Any clues? Any help appreciated.
Cheers,
Alistair
