On a Windows 2000 machine, I receive the following message when trying to scan at the windows update site. Error number 0x800B0109.

I also downloaded the security updates that I needed and tried to manually install them. I get the following error.

-Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Check the Group policy whether it has disbaled access to windows update site. Also make sure the Cryptographic service are also .

I cannot find the Cryptographic service in the services. I can see it on my machine, but I'm running XP. The group policy is set to apply to all of our users and he is the only one getting that error.

Do this:

Go to Start>Run and key in:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
Click on OK or hit ENTER
Click on OK in the RegSvr32 dialogue box

Do the same as above for each of the following .dll files:
wintrust.dll
initpki.dll
dssenh.dll
rsaenh.dll
gpkcsp.dll
sccbase.dll
slbcsp.dll
cryptdlg.dll

Then clean the IE history, cookies and temp internet files.
