ERR unable to scan $HOME/Maildir

Last week I received a 'worm', and that's when the trouble began. Although my virus checker, and
an online site have both verified that the worm is gone, I'm still having problems with Eudora. Here's
what happens. When I try to check my mail, a dialogue box comes up, asking for my password. I
enter the password, and receive this warning:
"There has been an error transferring your mail. I said:
PASS <shhhh! Don't tell anyone>
and then the POP server [me@server.net] said:
ERR unable to scan $HOME/Maildir&quot;

Then another box apprears which says
&quot;Error reading from Network. Cause: connection reset by remote side (10054).&quot;

I've tried reinstalling my internet software, Eudora, Win98 and about everything else, and nothing
changes.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions, as I'm totally lost as to what to try next.

Just to keep this alive. This error usually occurs to me if I have been logged on to my email server and got disconnected somehow. My ISP server usually makes me wait about 10 minutes before I can login again. Do you have any other way of checking your email (Netscape or Outlook?) If so, can you get your email with them. If not I suggest you call your ISP and find out if anyone has stolen your passwords (that is what some trojan/worms do) and is using your account.
Also, can you send mail? If you can that means that it's a POP3 thing and not SMTP, so you might want to check your settings in Tools|Options|Checking mail that you POP3 server is right.
Sorry if there are more questions than answers, but it would be nice to narrow it down to Eudora.

OH ! ITS TOO LATE.

Humm. I don't know what kind of virus it was. However, you wrote that you are confirm about virus clean. Ok, have you try to install your eudora not in a default directoru (usually default is in programme folder). Why not try in c:\Jkmi.

Your second prob about password. It seems your ISP Mail servery have some prob with your e-mail header. Please ask your ISP Adminster to remove your all e-mail from the server or transfer in your other account (if any - hotmail or yahoo).

I don't know how you enter your ISP, which operating system use your ISP Server.

your problem is not a virus. Your server work with &quot;Maildir&quot; format and Eudora can not read this folder (message folder).
