found in my quarantine files in norton 2002, date 12/21/2002 which leads to this question. Why doesnt
Norton 2002 anti virus inform you when it quarantines a virus? could this just be the way i have it configured? this has happened many times . yes this is the W32 Klez virus. have gotten it several times since it has come out but has always been caught and quarantined.

You're not the only 1 using the puter, are you, pearl?
Look in the config section of Norton 2002 for the answers, tho.

no , got this late saturday night. probably my 13 year old doing something he shouldnt have. the problem is norton never informs me, it just quarantines the virus.

That was my point: it maybe told him and he didn't say so.
(don't wanna' get him in trouble, but you know how we were at 13!)

Is this happening when you are trying to repair infected files or is it automatically placing them in the quaratine folder without you taking any action?

There is a setting in Norton you should check. It's under Options>Other>Miscellaneous. You will see the first option is "Create backup file in Quaratine before attempting a repair". If that is checked, it will place those files there. Enkrypted
A+

Maybe just removing it might help (the virus) and keep the removal tool from Norton handy.

It probably won't help setting up Norton to let you know it has quarantined the file if it happens again when your son/daughter is using the computer they just click ok and never tell a soul.

you are all right , norton has saved this ole puter many times. i usually find the file in quarantine when i see an attachment in my email. or either i get a message from outlook express saying something about can not open attachment. this is because i have it set not to open attachments. thanks for your replys and guys have a merry christmas. me and pearl got to go make some sausage balls.
one last note a 13 year old with an award from school in keyboarding is a dangerous combo. alli can do is hunt and peckkkk.

one last question on Norton 2002, if it quarantines the virus can i assume that it has stopped it from getting in . i did a complete virus scan and found nothing, do i really need to run the fix from symantec, probably so huh?

No reason not to take it (keyboarding course) yourself: once you get it down it's a matter of relying on your abilities and realizing you know more than you thought you did.
OLD dogs CAN learn new tricks...I taught my 12 year old "dump" dog to SMILE! (we live in the boonies and ppl drop their unwanted animals off on us rather than be responsible for them)

yes i just click on a box and removes all traces from pc.i have 112 files in my records time to empty out . really im keeping them to remind me how many times this puter has been threatened. i have a record of every quarantine etc.
