My Epson Perfection 1650 scanner was previously working and now is not on my XP Home Edition (of course I dont remember what I did to cause this beautiful behaviour
)
But, I have followed the directions about 10 times, to uninstall then reinstall the drivers (being sure to have the USB connector UNCONNECTED) and it still gives the error "Unable to scan because scanner is being used by another application or is not ready". I made sure I closed all Windows apps. What could be causing that error message that I cannot see?
In Device Manager, nothing appears to be wrong with my USB Ports. Yes, the scanner is powered up. And what makes me mad about Microsoft is that I can't use the Add Hardware Wizard because there is no ".inf" fiel in the install executable files!
