I am having big trouble installing my Epson TM-T88 III printers to the Micros Ws4 terminals. I am running 9700 HMS.

Called Micros many times and they dont seem to be of any help either.

Is there a setting you must do on the WS4 also to get the printers to run.

The printers are also running off a rs422 cable or serial I belive it is called.

what do options do you have selected in the device table? you have to conifgure the WS4 device and the printer.

I have the printer programmd into the device table as a roll printer. It is selected as id# 1. Also the serial connector in the back has its dip swith #4 on and all the rest are off.

What programming has to be done on the ws4?

Also will a 6 pin to a 8 pin cable work for this printer, or do I need a special cable?

Look in the workstation table, under printers and make sure you have it sending something to that printer. Also, the system (DB) needs to be bounced if this is a newly added device.

The workstation application (locally) needs to be configured as well, via "left-right-left"

Hope this helps..

Micros has always had a confidence program accessible from the workstations that allows you to see if the WS knows it should have a printer and check the acknowleged printer connections. It's pretty handy since it runs independent of OPS so you take the menu item printing setup out of the equation. I'm not sure how to get to it on 9700 WS4's, but it's been in every product released for at least 8 or 9 years so it's got to be there somewhere.

I had a nightmare with the new TM-T88's and WS4's on a 3700 that may or may not be an issue on 9700, but you may want to watch out for once you get the printers programmed. Turns out the factory settings of the internal dip switches for the handshake method and print buffer size weren't compatible. It caused print job to stall for a while and then restart again, sometimes in the middle of another print job. The busier the restaurant got, the worse the problem was.
