Epson 780 and Win XP! Won't install properly.

I have an Epson 780 printer. It will not install properly on Win XP. I have the latest drivers, but no go. It will print fine, but the Status Monitor cannot communicate with thw printer. And the install screen comes up every time I reboot. Any ideas?

Is it USB?? Uninstall the drivers. Unplug the printer. Restart. Install the drivers. Then, if you need to restart again, do it. Once XP is all logged in and everything, plug in the printer, and it will detect it and it should work.

Negative. Tried that and every variation on that theme. It still brings up the "Found New Hardware" screen on every boot up, and the Status Monitor cannot communicate with the printer. Epson does respond to my questions.

Clean the drivers with the Printers and Faxes, File, Server Properties, Drivers property sheet.
