Hi;I have a Epox 8RDA3+ motherboard and a Athlon 2600+ cpu,512meg of ram and a ati 9550 video card AGP all on this board..Has been running fine, the other day went blue screen and when I rebooted nothing on screen, all fans run when starting,no bios beep at all??,and nothing on screen?? I've cleared the bios, but a new battery, same.Changed video card, same.Changed ram, same.Fan's run when starting and the diagnostic LCD on the board reads FF all the time..I even tried a new power supply??and I don't see any bad caps. I'm not sure but sounds like the bios chip died? it is removable.I contacted Epox, and there checking on it,so they say.But there in the process of moving.Wanted to see what you guy's thought about this??

I'm afraid this is one of those cases where you really need to take everything back to the bare minimum.
Pull out every addon card (apart from the graphics) disconnect all roms and hard drives completely, pull off all front panel header wiring.
All you should have is the bare motherboard with CPU/cooler one stick of ram in slot 1 the graphics card and the PSU connected.
Pull out the mains lead
Clear the cmos
Reconnect
now use a small flat blade screwdriver to momentarily touch the pwr (power) header terminals.

ok,Took everything out, motherboard out of case.1 good stick of ram in slot 1,known good video card in agp slot.cpu and fan in place.hooked up power supply 20pin and 4 pin plug.momentarly touched power pins, fans start FF on lcd and nothing on screen.checked battery 3v,reset cmos with power off, then replaced jumper to normal, restartedby pins, same FF on diagnostic led's and nothing on screen at all,No post at all, goes right to FF as soon as it starts,no other numbers or letters at all.??Is it the bios chip??It is removable??What's up with Epox, can't get anyone to answer me,really slow?

I actually have the same problem with a recent computer. I was running an Athlon 64 3000+ on one of Epox's boards. I had tried basically eveything from returning the CPU/motherboard/memory to trying just the bare bones. My problem, after about a month of pulling hair out, was that the PSU was bad.

My recommendation would be to hook up a second PSU (that you know works) and see if that helps. Only hook up the bare minimum. I may be wrong, but the motherboard should at least bring you to the BIOS screen even if you have non memory or CPU in. Then if your still not clear, you know its the board. Otherwise, start adding things one by one until you get your error again.

Already tried a second powersupply, that's what I thought two.No go,it dosen't get to the bios screen? No beeps nothing at all on the screen, just fan's run and FF on the diag lcd on the board.nothing but cpu and video card and 1 stick ram on board.I'm wondering if it's the bios chip, removable. If it's the board itself, would'nt the cpu fan and chip fan be dead also? I have nothing onscreen, with know good video card and ram.

Yep, you are wrong... a mobo needs both RAM and CPU to be able to enter the BIOS setup... No RAM and it will beep - but no BIOS... No CPU and it will just sit there...

Do you think it's just the Bios chip itself? It is removable on this board.

Recently, I had the EXACT issue you have described here.
I tried replacing every component, including the power supply.

It was a Foxconn mobo...it just died on the spot while reading a google page.
The warranty replacment arrived today~!
I back in Business!

I would go bare bones on this first, meaning nothing but one stick of RAM (reseat it) and CPU (check that the HEATSINK is connected correctly) on the mobo (I've seen mobos that would not POST when a bad IDE Cable was attached)...

then reset the CMOS... if still no go there, meaning no beeps no BIOS etc. then try a KNOWN GOOD WORKING PSU and see what it does...
also worth a try, see if another HeatSink works, mobos these days will not POST if they don't detect a working Heatsink FAN...

ok BadBigBen,bare motherboard on desk,1 stick of good ram in slot 1,heatsink and cpu good, good working power supply. 1 known good video card, thats it on motherboard.momentarly touch power pins on motherboard to start, board goes right to FF on the diagnostic led,no beeps,no video, cpu and chipset fan are running.Nothing on screen, and no setup. blank screen?? That's it,only thing I haven't done is change the bios chip on the board,it is replaceable...Do you Think that's it or is this thing just Dead????

Lordgalla hate to be so negative but as you probably already know Epox motherboards have a bit of history regarding bad caps (aren't always visable)

It is worth a try to push down on the BIOS chip, in doing so you reseat it abit...

if that is no joy...

then I would just go ahead and buy another mobo that the CPU works with, or trade it back if you still got warranty...
