Does it work?

Possible, but not recommended. For one, 2KPro (or workstation-type OSes) can only support 10 concurrent connections (Someone correct me if this is wrong).

Has anyone tried it?
Have a lot of costumers who has it on
a W2K Pro.

The agent yes, the server no. I wonder if NAI will even support them since installing ePO on W2K Pro is not a supported platform.

Confused... I have been running EPO server on a WIN2K server since day 1. NAI helped me install and setup the server.

I was told the Console couldn't be run on XP so I haven't tried that. Anyone else have it working on XP?

Also confused....We started using epol v2.0.0 server and console and it was working fine with w2k pro. All our computers are under that OS. Right now we are using the epol v3.0.0 server and console but it doesn't seem to puch any thing but the agent :s. We haven't tried with xp though.

Now I'm confused ... what did you want to run on Win2K Pro in the first place - the server or the agent?

If its the agent, there's no problem. It will run just fine. If it's the server, that's not a supported platform, although I've tried it with 2.51 and it worked. I'm pretty sure though you won't be getting any help from NAI as this is not a supported or recommended configuration.

I want to run the server on Win 2000 PRO.
Since I have a lot of costumers running
2.51 on Win 2000 PRO.
Its about 15-30 users in those networks.
So a server is a little too expensive for them.

Like I said before, this will work, BUT, you may not get support from NAI since this is NOT a recommended platform for the ePO server. Try it if you wish, but personally, I'd stick to Win2K Server.

We use the server at a windows 2000 server os not at windows 2000, avchap is right w2k pro is not a supported platform for epolicy orchestrator. My comment was about epo v3.0 not pushing anything else but the agent to the network. Any sugestions?

ePO 3.0 does not push anything else except the agent, policies and tasks. Is that what you wanted to see?

That is the answer i wanted but not what i was expecting from epo v3.0 :D thank you again AVChap.

Were you expecting ePO 3.0 to start pushing out all the items again? That's why NAI dropped it's Management Edition Console because of the push technology. It was too slow and cumbersome. Besides, if a workstation is turned off during that push, it won't recieve the update. Pull technology being applied in ePO 3.0 makes it easier on the server since the workstations do most of the work. The server only needs to receive the new information from the agents.

Not exactly again, first time using epol and i started with version 2.0.0 not to long like 2 weeks ago, and then the new version appeared so we tested it. I implemented the new version 3.0 at another vlan for the first time expecting it to push the agent and also another programs but now thanks to you i know it will not do it. For that vlan i think we'll go back to 2.5 then after getting the agent and the thin client on all the pc's we can start using v3.0. As i said before you´ve been of a lot of help to me thank you again.
