Hi everyone!

We managed to lose all the passwords to the ePO. =)
Most of the people, who had ePO accounts, don't work with us anymore, others can't remember their password.
We have access to the ePO database, however, and can see contents of the UserTable, with accounts and hashed (or encrypted) passwords.

Some while ago, we were able to trick ePO by substituting password hash, with a hash of a password that we knew. But now it does not seem to work anymore.

Does anybody have any ideas? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

Well... =) we already broke into it. No need to call support. We did a parallel install, got the hash of admin password, and placed it in the Users table for the admin account. Restarted ePO server. Worked like a charm.

Hi

Firstly i would like to say that the version of EPO that you are using, according to McAfee, is no longer supported.

I would contact McAfee, providing you have a valid entitlement, confirm this and consider upgrading to EPO 3.6.1 or EPO 4.0

Not being able to login could also be related to your windows environment e.g. if you are running SP2 for Win 2003 for which there were several fixes in EPO 3.6.1 with the latest patch, which is Patch 3

In future i would contact McAfee Technical Support, with a valid entitlement to support, to discuss issues like this further, rather than have the overkill of having to install EPO again and do parallel installs

Hope this helps

Only needed to do parallel install to make sure that we get a correct copy of a password hash. Technically, this hash is all over Internet anyway, so parallel install was not necessary.

Our main problem was that we forgot that windoze servers gotta be rebooted after every sneeze. When above was posted, problem was already solved, but we still could not login, because some epo services freaked out, and host system needed to be recycled. After rebooting everything worked like a charm. No need to cal Mcafee to get a "technically correct, but completely useless answer". And besides its more fun this way anyway =).

Cheers.
