I am administering a Definity G3i v4 with a multicarrier PPN and one multicarrier EPN. I need to completely shutdown the EPN, it is no longer needed. If I power the EPN down, I receive a major alarm. I believe that I may need craft level password to deprogram the EPN??? There is no longer any maintenance contract with AVAYA. Any suggestions on how to get the craft password (if needed), and what the procedure to deprogram the EPN may be?

Any help will be appreciated,, my e-mail address is mrobell@bellsouth.net

Thanks,
mrobell

You will have to have at least a craft level of a password to do this. You must remove the fiber link and then cabinet from the switch.

You don't need "craft" login. You just need full MSP permissions. Which in effect gives you most of the craft options.

There are no translations in a G3si. The EPN is detected by the presence of the EI board (TN776 or TN570).

The connection to the EPN is through a T1 Via a DS1 card? You need to remove/disconnect the DS1 card so it is not seen by the switch. Try busying the card out and are you sure there are no translations pointing to the route-pqttern to the EPN.

A G3SI does not use DS1 to connect to an EPN. Fiber is the only way it can be done for a V4.
