Anyone have an idea what the heck this is. It comes up no results found when I Google it, Yahoo it, on Microsoft's site or even in here. How can I have something in my registry that absolutely no one has any information on???

It's in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Value name: eDdQicAD
Value data: C:\WINDOWS\awixaja.exe

There's a high propability that that is some virus or spyware component. I suggest some thorough scanning with multiple tools.

It looks very like the registry entry is the result of a randomly-generated value plus filename. This is often a sign of malware attempting to hide itself from detection.

I suggest scanning the hard disk using a variety of tools, e.g. Nod32 ( or other anti-virus tools like AVG ( Ad-Aware ( Spybot ( MS Windows Defender ( etc.

Hope this helps...

I thought it might be some kind of spyware, but ad-aware, spybot, and aol spyware search all say nothing about it. I also can't believe that there's something new under the sun - I'm amazed that Googling, Yahooing, and Microsofting all turn up blank. I'll just delete it and see if it comes back. Then I'll know for sure.
