Hello All,

If you would'nt mind telling me, which Entry or Door phones do you use with your Definity? We have a Definity G3-SI and are looking into an entry phone that would allow us to dial some numbers from a Directory. Please let me know which one works best for you. Ive tried using an old call box that we have here, but it doesnt interface well with our system.

Thank You,

Joel

All the door phones I've ever installed were hotlines that lead to a security station or something like that. They had a single button that would take the station off hook and they would ring down to a specific station. In both installations, we added the ability to press some touch tones on the receiving phone and open the door lock remotely.

I imagine there are any number of phone types that you could use, but if you want to give the caller dialing capabilities, then you're limited to using a weather proof phone that has to be at least the size of a speaker and a touch tone pad. Just be sure to limit where the phone can call.

Perhaps what you're looking for is an apartment telephone entry system phone? Do a google search for "apartment telephone entry". You should find something suitable there.

Any standard analog phone set will work as long as you have the ports for it. then create a hotline to an attendant in VM that alllows the caller to search the name directory. Bogen, Viking, Valcom have specialized vandal, waterproof, you name it style door phones and contact closure systems to unlock the remote doors.

On the third page of any analog phone definition, you put in an abbreviated dial list and a member on the list as the destination of all calls from this phone.

When the phone goes off hook, it immediately calls the abbreviated dial list entry.

I have all that in there now. It still doesnt work though. Unfortunatley, its one of those entry phones, Minipak, and Lord knows what may have to be configured on there. I have the manual but the changes dont seem to work. Thanks again all.

That unit may have a built in auto dialer. If that is the case, you will have to program the phone to dial the number that you want it to call. It still should be set up as a 2500 for the set type. I would take it to my equipment room, hook up to an analog port and play with it. I Set up our elevator phones in the equipment rooms and then install them using the same methods.
