Trying to install a replacement Entopia mail card on an Option 11c. The tape drive is on and connected, reset the mail card. The act lamp flashes green, goes off ,then relights after a few minutes and stays on .(So far so good )
There is then no response AX> despite screen refreshes etc.
I can hear the tape re-tension and search.
The clue may be that the HDD lamp on the mail card never illuminates ,suggesting the hard drive is not responding. Is this reasonable assumption ?
If I boot the Mail card with no tape drive attached ,the mail fails Fox security check, but I think this may be the boot file on the mother board.
Can anyone verify ?

Sounds like a bad hard drive. I just had one do the exact same thing. Got to the Fox Security Check and would hang. Ordered a new drive and restored and all is good.

Thanks KC.Were you able to resolve with a standard hard drive,or was it it proprietary ?

Hello Doug

I'm certain that you can use a number of compatible hard drives. Contact me if you need any assistance.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

The drive I got was a Seagate ST34520N. Remember these are very small drives and the larger one's will not work. I think this is around a 4gb drive.

Hi,

Just check if the disk starts (you can feel the vibration and the noise) and check the AML on LD48 and the AX tty , disable and enable both. Make sure the TTY port(hardware) for AML is ok, or it won't send the ID (FOX) and it gets stuck there...as far as I remember long long time ago.
