I'm getting this error when trying to discover nodes with ent manager
Node rejected by seed file filters: 10.10.1.24
[17 Jan 2008 11:42:25:000] ~TOPO~ERROR~: Cannot Add This Node 10.10.1.24 Check Seed File Configuration
I've done many of these and this is the first time I've seen this error. Can anyone shed some light on this?

These are 3300 controller. running ops 7.6 ur1 and ent 4 UR1. the logs are not showing much other than this error. I did see something about license file that's invalid but I've installed the software and I can login no prob.

Thanks

Have you properly set up the SNMP Traps on the 3300

they are on by default aren't they? haven't had to change settings here before. only location and contact person from time to time

Node Discovery doesn't use traps, it uses SNMP Read-only requests from the server to the node. Therefore, the read-only community string must match in both the 3300 and Enterprise Manager. Default is "public" but sometimes this is changed. You also need to program the 3300 to either accept requests from all managers, or program the IP address of the EMan server as an allowed manager.

Community strings and managers are programmed in the SNMP Configuration form on the 3300. Read-only community string is set in the SNMP config within the Auto-Discovery Configurator on Enterprise Manager.

hi lundah,

agreed but by default this is all configured. Like I said I've never had to 'enable' it on the 3300. always just ran the auto discovery wizard.
I have a ticket logged with 3rd line. They're stumped as well. The guy is waiting for a response from design so in effect I'm waiting for it ;)

kwbMitel is right , I have had to enable snmp config
and use the IP address for the Ent Manager
for it to discover sets and the personality of the 3300
other wise it wont and you need to in the enterprise manager side enable discovery of the subnet

My latest install required me to enable SNMP but that was after an upgrade to the 3300 from Rel 6. If memory serves systems installed Pre-rel 6 did not have SNMP enabled.

If yours is a brand new 8.0 and Enterprise manager it is probably already enabled.

That being said, how long does it take to check?

doesn't take long and is probably the first thing I DID check ;)

it was enabled. the logs are indicating that it's 'seeing' the elements but refusing to add them for some reason. I'm thinking possibly and IP subnet issue or IP range issue.
Am using 10.10.1.23 and 10.10.1.24 with a calls C subnet.

I'm waiting for 3rd line to get back with an answer. Will keep you posted

thanks for the replies so far

ok so here's the solution: wait and wait some more!
eventually i was able to add the nodes. Made absolutely no config changes whatsoever. just tried to add the nodes again after a couple of days to get the error messages and send them to 3rd line and instead of an error, the nodes appeared.

here's the catch though. OPS doesn't want to open. enterprise man does open.

tried uninstalling and reinstalling java and OPS/Ent manager. no luck. java error:

load: class ops.appl.opstop.client.OPSTopUIMain6.class not found.
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: ops.appl.opstop.client.OPSTopUIMain6.class

any ideas on this? running the latest ops and ent 7.6 ur2 and 4.0 ur respectively.

thanks

What error message do you get?
What if you try launching OPSman from main home page using the drop down box?

I had an issue with OPSman not opening because there was a 2nd NIC card on the server.

EMan does not work well with dual NICs

there a second nic but it's disabled in windows...
tried launching ops from main logon but no joy.

I don't get any errors when I try and open ops, it just never actually opens up. I copied the logs I found on the java console

What are you putting in the address field?

What is it installed on (O/S)? No VMWare or Virtual Servers allowed.

Did it ever work?

windows 2003 server sr2
what do you mean what do I put in the address field?
No VMWARE

Ya my bad....

The URL in the address field of your browser...

Was it ever working as well?

no new installation. I've just tried the installation on a different system and again same thing. back to square one here!

Might be a version issue not sure
