I run a jumpstart Solaris 9 installation on a Netra X1 machine as a client.

I've just forgot one thing, and that is to set the root password ! :(

The installation went well and I ve boot my Netra.

I ve tested to login by using all kind of passwords (blank, root, root123, jumpstart, oldpassword, jumpstart root password, etc.. ) everything fails.

To hack the root password is tough.

I want to make the jumpstart installaion again or something as replacing the root password, anyhow to do something I ve to enter the "OK" prompt.

I connect serial to netra machine.
And see my LOM prompt.

But I can not enter the OK prompt ????
To go from LOM -> OK I need to type "console" or "break"... nothing works ?
It allways says: "System in standby" ????

Please help me!!!!!!

How do I enter OK from LOM ????

Thanks for your help!

What's LOM?

What software are you using to connect to the serial port? Something like HyperTerminal? Some software will have an option to "Send break" on the menus; try looking for that.

Annihilannic.

LOM Light out management:

I m using TeraTerm and HyperTerminal, well there is a "send break.." in the menu. But thats not the problem.

The problem is entering the ok-prompt mode from lom.

It always says "System in standby".

/thanks for your reply.

See thread60-638112 , just as a side note if you search the forums yourself, you will most likley find your not the first to ask a question, and it's been answered before.

mrn thanks for your help, actully I ve solved the problem.

It was all about my terminal and the way it resolved my stop-a combination.

I switched from tera term to hyperterminal and used some combination as:
ctrl-break / ctral-break-a

It worked great.

I ve checked your link, and it says something like:
"the key combination that has the equivalent of a Stop-A is: ~#"

Hope people who are stuck in same problem can learn something from this.

here is another tip on this subject. If you are connecting via a lap top using hyper terminal and you can't remember the key press. Close the lid on the laptop so it goes into hibernation and it send the correct break through hyper terminal and hey presto your at the OK prompt.

Cool eh?
