I am running Windows XP Pro and, after I boot up, the enter key works just fine in Word (and every other application) and then, for no apparent reason, the enter key stops working.

The strange thing is that ENTER+CTRL (for example) work in Word to make a new page.

It is not the keyboard; I have swapped out three keyboards and the problem still appears. The problem does not show up with the swapped-out keyboards on any other machine.

My CIS guy who is a genius says he's never seen such a thing!

What could be wrong and how do I fix it?

Thanks!

Not quite sure why it would be doing this, but have a look at the sticky keys function. Control Panel > Accessibility Options > turn off sticky keys

I believe this solved the problem; my typist was inadvertently setting the sticky keys by pressing some combination of keys on her computer. I just cut off the whole "feature"....
