Hi, I am using ADP with SQL Server backend and developing an application. First of all, can I use ADP for it, I used .mdb before and it worked, I want to try ADP now. The problem I have is, for few tables which are empty in the SQL Server, I cannot add data from the ADP, however it will allow me to enter data for other tables that were populated from SQL Server.

Can I use ADP to develop a front-end to enter, review, delete data from a SQL Server backend.

Thanks for your help.

In sql server, permissions are assigned to each object, such as, tables, stored procedures, and views. So, if you don't have the correct permissions on an object it will not be updateable. Also, for a table to be updateable there must be an unique primary index. Check these.

Cmmfrds, I do have the permission right, however I got to check on the indexes, are you positive you need to have a PK on the table for it to be updated. That is not the case with SQL Server atleast. Let me know.

The Access Project uses an ADO connection and it requires something unique in the record for updates. A timestamp column in the table may satisfy this need. It is a good practice and makes things easier if ALL tables have a unique index.
