I want to be able to ensure that data that is written to one of my harddrives from a network share is actually written. I've seen this option I think in Windows 2000 Professional to ensure data write for a logical drive...

I've had enormous problems with this 80gig MAXTOR drive of actually crashing to blue screen when network data is being written to it, it will actually corrupt other files on the HDD. I just want to have it double checked to make sure the data being written to that HDD are not corrupt.

Can anyone help me out here?

thnx.

I found these keywords that should help --

'ensuring data integrity' 'fault tolerant'

The only way to test it is to check it out for yourself. Once it has been written go to that share and verify that it is ok. If you are having problems with your hardware I suggest getting new hardware. If the data is critical you can go one step further and burn it to DVD or CD.

Hope this helps.

I've found out that the way to do this is to actually create a 'mirrored drive' using the Computer Management Console however I'm still unable to do this as per the instructions given in the Windows Help... Look under Mirror in the help under windows.

Anybody have any ideas on how to create this mirror drive, I don't have a RAID setup nor do I want one I would just like the solution provided in the Windows Help to work...

Thank you for any suggestions.

In Win2000 Pro you cannot create mirrored drive, it is possible only in Win2000 Server. You must have 2 physical HDD to do this.
