Enhanced SMS reporting

OK, I'm a vendor but this isn't a Sales pitch but a request for input.

We have developed Business Intelligence solutions for different types of Config Mgmt solutions and are looking to have a SMS flavour ready by the end of this year.

Where do current frustrations occur and what key areas would users benefit from having enhanced reporting and realtime information.

We are also looking to work with a couple of beta customers so if you want to be involved, please let me know.

Currently, apart from the basics, we are concentrating on real-time dashboards and drill down to installation failures, project success and roll-out progress, Security/ PM real time vulnerabilities, Vista readyness, SLA and LCM dashboards.

If anyone has other areas where they feel SMS can be enhanced, or wants to work with up on Beta, then please let me know.

Real-Time dashboards for security patch compliance would be useful.

Also, including an ability for the SMS clients to get software packages similar to the bittorrent protocol would be extremely useful for locations that may have slow links.

Real Time dashboard is operational with interactive click from a dashboard from a corporate level down to an individual machine vulnerability etc.

Like the idea of the BitTorrent approach but am not sure what we can provide from a BI perspective. Certainly monitor progression, checkpoint restart etc but the integration is something we would need to look further into.

Where do you see the bottlenecks of information in SMS are and what sort of heads up display and drill down would benefit you most?

We have been using custom made SMS reports to track the patching within our company for over 18 months now. Sounds very interesting what you're developing there. The biggest issue we had with our reports was the accuracy. Meaning that we reported on clients that are missing patches but in reality they were already removed from the AD. The gap between AD and SMS was, and still is, our biggest problem.

Would be nice if you can send us a link when you're product is finished.
