AVAYA's policy officialy is that they support the current release and the two releases before that.
(So now that means R10, R9 & R8)
Releases before that are not supported.
In practice this means that most distributors will give "best effort" support on older releases.
This means that they can solve 99% of the hardware faults. You can get in to trouble when you get software faults because AVAYA will not perform development on the older releases software.
If you have a release older then R6 it might be difficult to get new telephones because releases befor R6 can not conenct to the 6400 series phones.
If you have an older release try to find a dealer or distributor that will give "best effort" support.
Actually Avaya is just now discontinuing support for System 75. I spoke with my AE yesterday and she said that Avaya will continue support on V6, but will only offer it in one year contracts.
