Hello!

I need a little help on enabling AGP support on my video card/Motherboard AGP slot. When I look at my computer settings through "DirectX", it says the "AGP Support" is "not available". Is there a way that I can enable AGP? My video card is a AGP card. The video card works even though theres no AGP support, but it would be nice if it were enabled. Thanx a million!!!

Most computers have a BIOS setting that, by default, will be set to PCI. It will usually be in the syntax of Init Display 1st, with options of PCI or AGP.

Depending on your M-Bd and chipset, you may also need to install a patch to properly support AGP video in your system.

okay...thanks for the info...but what kinda AGP patch should I get?....one from my video card maker or my motherboard maker? Thanx a million!

There are many names to the patch, usually provided by the Mother-Board Manufacturer. For instance, on a m-bd w/VIA chipset, the patch may be called VIAGART.vxd. Most M-bds come with a CD, containing readme files that explain the process in detail. It will vary based on the version of windows you use too. If you are using Win95, prior to OSR 2.1, you will have to install the USB supplement patch prior to installing the AGP patch. Check the readme for the specifics on your system. If you dont have the CD, go to the M-bd mfg's website for the info you need.

Also, check the readme for your video card. Some ask that you install the AGP patch after the video driver, but check the docs to be sure.

Hope this helps...

P.S. When you make the BIOS change, look for the setting to assign an IRQ to your Video Card. It needs to be set to Yes so that the BIOS will assign an IRQ at boot up. Your video card's documentation should say this also.
