Enable user to dial internationally? 3

It has been 3 years since we went live with our Mitel 3300 phone system and I can't for the life of me find the on/off internation settings. I thought this was a COR setting, but the COR settings don't seem to address this.

Your help is appreciated. We are trying to call the Dominican Republic if that matters. I thought we simply had a feature code and password to allow it. I just can't find the notes.

Ok just stumbled on this:
Long Distance Codes:
*1 + xxxx-xxxx + 0 + number

Where the xxxx are a Default Account Codes. I just looked in that form and their is nothing defined.

you will find the codes in the Independant Account codes form.

They change the COR of the phone to one that is allowed to dial the destination

Independent Account Codes:
Purpose

The Independent Account Codes form defines account codes. Account codes are entered when dialing from a given device to permit access to ARS and to assign an account code-dependent COS and COR to the device for the duration of the call. Account codes may be used by individuals to change the default COS and COR assigned to a particular station set in order to invoke some COS-controlled features not normally permitted at the set, or to enable connection to COR-controlled ARS routes when that connection is not normally permitted by the COR assigned to the set being used.

The user goes off hook, dials the account code feature access code followed by the account code. They get dial tone back and then can dial the formerly blocked number. When they hang up there COS and COR reverts to the orginal values.

Hopefully you have a CDR product to track who is dialing with account codes.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

So I have tried every combination of dialing to get out using the account code on the phone and nothing works, so something else is blocking things. I even went as far as putting in the COS and COR provided by the account code directly on that extension and he still couldn't dial out.

He gets access denied.

So we called from a cell phone, which isn't ideal but it worked. I need to be able to do this on the fly, so where else would international calls be stopped. These account codes were setup just for this example, If I can't figure it out on my own I will have to open up a support ticket from my vendor (billable).

Sounds like someone revamped your COR restrictions without considering the Acct Codes

Try removing all CORs from the COR group assoc with international dialing.

If you are in North America and using NI-2 for your PRI, you might need to set the call type to unknown

You might also find that all international calls are restricted by the Telco as is done by default by Shaw Cable in my area

Ok, I am back at this. I have found the independent account codes, there are like 5 of them. They all would switch to COS 11 and COR 5. When I look in COR 5 there was nothing defined in the "groups". I am not finding an actual place to modify the COR setting like there is for the COS groups. What am I missing here? Are those trunks (1-4) in the group settings for COR 4, COS 3 has (1-3), COS 2 has (1,2) in it.

I just put COR 5 at 1-5 to see if that works, which it doesn't so I am back here.

FYI we run SIP here through AT&T and I don't believe they block international by default, but then again this is the first time I was asked this.

why don't you add a new system speed call number (i.e. 1001) where the actual number be 9011[dominican rep country code][number] and make sure you ENABLE Override Toll Control

go off hook and dial 1001, this will translate into what you have programmed above and you will know if your system is able to dial that dominican republic number.

If that is successful then you can concentrate on your COR

If you change the COR Group for the route to 5 and in the COR have 1-5 it means devices with those COR's are denied access.
To verify it is not a carrier issue (SIP trunks)
Why not set up a new route pointing to the SIP trunks
Then in ARS digits dialed 91809 + 7 using as digit mod that strips the 9 and a COR group that is not blocked.
FYI, Dominican Republic is part of NADP and not an international call from USA

Ok, we are onto something. In the ARS digits dialed there was an entry for 91809, digits to follow 0, termination type Route, Termination Number 200.

I am changing this to digits to follow 7, and list 1 (Which is what most of my standard numbers are setup for.)

So it now works!!~, awesome. However, how can I control who can dial this, or not?

Thanks Waldosworld and everyone else. I knew it was something easy. Back in my Avaya days COR had a bunch of settings just like COS did, and I could check off if people could make long distance calls and program in excluded Area codes and number combos. Mitel is never clear with what you have to do to make something happen/ or not happen. I really wish they did a customer based revamp of their GUI/control panel. It is very, very difficult to do anything slightly out of norm.

So any thoughts on restricting, or since it isn't technically international, then we can't without modifying the ARS digits dialed again? I have removed the 1-5 in the COR groups code, so hopefully a real international call can be technically made now.

What route is using 91809?

Check what class of restriction cor group is assigned to the route used by 91809.

Then, add the classes of restriction numbers that you want to restrict from using that route (that class of restriction group).

Then, change the cor to the extensions.

I know i'm not making myself clear. Best way is to have a look at the course manual, do you have it?

No I don't unfortunately, I am missing the part of "what route is using the 91809", there is nothing that states that in the screen. It is simply the digits dialed screen. I am not sure where to look, they really need to make this on one screen anything related. When I have to make a change it is always on 2-3 screens to get what I want.

Ok, let's go one at a time. Go to the form ARS digits dialled, there you will see an entry for 91807, number of digits to follow 7 (which you said earlier that you changed from 0 to 7 which you did good) then it should say termination type route (most probably that it says route, but if it says list please let us know) and then termination number X. That X is what I am interested to know, that will be your route number.

Once you know the route being used for calls to DR, please go to form ARS route assignment and go to route X. Now I want you to tell me what COR group number (let's call this number Y) is against route X.

Finally, go to form Class of Restriction Assignment and go to line Classes of restrictions for group Y. There you will find numbers, or could also be blank... Please tell me what's in there, let's call those nmbers A, B, C...

Thosr A, B, C numbers are the Classes of Restrictions you assign to users (extensions) that you want to restrict from dialling to the D. Republic.
