Enable File & Print Sharing en masse

Does anyone know of a way to enable File & Print Sharing on client PCs through either Group Policy or SMS? The client PCs are pretty much all W2K Pro or Win XP Pro (no SP2 yet - haven't been brave enough! :>) Found out when we rolled out the SMS 2.0 client that it required F & P installed, but not enabled. Now we are looking at another piece of software that will require it to be enabled (sigh).

Make a batch file that runs the following 2 commands:

\\%servername%\%share%\snetcfg.exe -c s -u MS_Server
\\%servername%\%share%\snetcfg.exe -c s -i MS_Server

Copy snetcfg.exe to that share and slap the batch file into a policy under startup scripts. When the pc reboots it uninstalls / reinstalls the FPS component.

BEWARE - this will reset any shares that might be on a PC this policy is applied to.

Thanks for the help! I had tried snetcfg on XP, but had no luck. I found an XP version here:

I have not tried it yet to see if the XP version works on Windows 2000.
