I have CRv10. I want to enable the close button on the report toolbar. When I set .EnableCloseButton = true nothing happens. What do I need to do to let the users close the report from the toolbar?
The Viewer that works with the RDC (crviewer.dll) doesn't have a close button for the main report tab by design. Why did they do that? I have no idea. [rant] Why isn't there a Print Setup button? Why can't you export each drill-down tab separately? Why can't you get to the Browse Table/Browse Field properties for default parameters? [/rant]
I could go on and on about this. They have a lot to improve. Using the API (crpe32.dll), all of that stuff is available (including the close button when only the main report is visible), but it's now deprecated. I just wish they would at least give the same functionality to the RDC.
I think you should be able to enable to the progress bar, but to be honest, I've never noticed it doing anything.
At the Business Objects conference last month, they indicated that they are committed to providing practically everything that's possible through Crystal Designer to the development environment. Better yet, it sounds like they will be developing Crystal Designer on top of the same api's that they would be making available to the outside developer community. So good direction, but we'll have to wait before we get to the promised land...
I believe Dave is right; similarly, you can't get the same progress info that the designer shows (numebr of records read/selected) while the retrieval process is going on -- only when it's done.

CUT, Visual CUT, and DataLink Viewer:
view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.
Please don't interpret my message as an indication that this functionality will be available in Crystal 11. It may be available only later...
Until then, you can create your own animated indication that something is going on (if the loading takes more than x). That's the approach I've taken my in DataLink Viewer software.

I just glanced at the documentation for CR 11, and there appear to be no major enhancements to the RDC for this version. I would have thought that at least there would be added ParameterField properties/methods with the addition of the dynamic/cascading parameters. Bummer...
Oh well, maybe by the time they come out with a place for a wish list maybe then we will be able to ask for what we need. But will still anticipate having the new version. Always interested in what they come up with.
