// AIX 5.2.8 with HACMP 5.1

en3 has all of network traffics (application and backup) on it. Due to the configuration, when the backup to tsm runs, I am assuming, the application gets slow down. Ideally, I like to put the tsm traffic on a separate en.
How do you accomplish this task? It is production environment, so I like to get it down w/o downtime.

Thx much

That depends how many NICs you have in the Server.
If you have more than one then configure TSM to use the other one.

Yes coolaix is right! I don't work with TSM these days but i remember that you can assign which network adapter to talk to!

Or you could set-up 802.3ad Link Aggregation 2 cards - one address and double the throughput.

"lsdev -Cc adapter | grep en" , check for the one's that in available state, now match this output from
"ifconfig -a".

The number seen in availabe should match ifconfig -a.

ifconfig -a , will also tell you which one which one configured and has a IP address assiged.

Also visiting the redbooks.ibm.com will help you further.

Has anyone confirmed that en3 isn't already a virtual interface? netstat -v might help here

Have Fun !
