empty hardware inventory

My problem:

we have several machines which are not sending any harware inventory information to the server. If I check the clients, the hardware inventory component seems to be ok. I checked also the log files and found no errors. Software inventory is working well. There is no problem on the rest of the (about 95%) PCs. Any ideas?
 
I am having this same problem with SMS 2.0 SP3. This is happening on NT and W2K clients. Have you had any success on troubleshooting this?
 
This may describe your issue:
(SMS deletes traveling client records from database)

While SP4 prevents this issue it does not fix it. We've had pretty good success advertising dehinv32.exe /s to clients with old or no workstation status (hardware inventory) date.

This could also be applicable:
(HW agent waits for 64 years for installation)
