Can anyone clarify what how to properly wired the Emergency Transfer Port on the CICS or MICS?

Look up the pinout in the FAQ section to get color codes, such as:

Works with conventional POTS CO analog lines.

Wire the emergency pair to a modular jack (use the red/green screw terminal leads in the jack or use the two middle positions if 110 type IDC punch jack) and attach a conventional analog phone, like a 500 or 2500 series set. Subject to REN constraints, you can have two or more 2500 sets on a single emergency line.

When the power fails, if memory serves me, line 2 will be automatically switched from the Nortel equipment to its respective emergency port pair and that will connect the line 2 to whatever analog phone bank you set up.

When the power is up, the emergency port will have no dial tone and will not be active.

curlycord

not really since it goes to ksu also and it takes a power hit it could cause damage to where it will short the co line

safest is to go through a co power fail first. then to ksu and power fail phone
when power is lost it only supplies dial tone to the power fail phone. would not matter if ksu has a serious problem that could shot the line

Curly, yes Dees; or just an old telephone two position switch or, to be even simpler to the customer, a RJ31X jack wired to put the telco on the middle pins.
