We are currently using Netbackup 5.1MP5 and backing up to a virtual tape on an EMC CDL. We also have to cut physical tapes for long term retention and offsiting purposes.
So we typically set backup retention on virtual for 1 week and for whatever retention is required on the dupe to physical.
Long story short is that the duplication process relies on scripts and is fairly manual. Anyone know of any tools or shortcuts to make this less painful?

I use netbackup vault and just run a duplication step.

I agree, get NetBackup Vault option. It can make life much easier for you in this respect.

Do we set dupe policies up in vault and then just associate them to a backup policy? Is it that simple?
